1. About CodeDuel
CodeDuel is a code-breaking game developed by Mathur Harsh Ramnaresh. You can practice against a randomly generated code or invite another player to an online duel. This page describes the current development build; launch-specific privacy disclosures are still to be finalized.
2. Player Profile
Player setup asks for a name or nickname, age, and avatar selection. This profile is saved on your device and, when authenticated, synchronized to Firebase. Your display name and avatar are included in multiplayer rooms. You can use a nickname instead of your real name.
3. Authentication and Online Games
The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which assigns a user identifier without asking for an email address or password. Anonymous sign-in does not mean that no data is stored.
Cloud Firestore stores room codes, player identifiers, display names, avatars, secret codes, guesses, feedback, turns, results, and timestamps to support online matches. Multiplayer is not an on-device-only or zero-data-collection feature. Firebase also handles the technical connection information needed to provide its services.
4. Device Storage and Solo Practice
The app saves profile and sound preferences using local storage. Native builds use AsyncStorage; the web build uses browser storage. Solo secret codes and guesses are evaluated on your device. Authentication and profile synchronization may still connect to Firebase while using the app.
5. Invitations
You choose how to share your room code or invitation link using the clipboard or your device's share sheet. Anyone with the invite may attempt to join the room. Treat an invite as something to share only with the person you want to challenge.
6. Storage and Deletion
Removing the app or clearing browser storage does not by itself delete Firebase authentication records, cloud profiles, or online game records. For questions about stored data or deletion requests, contact the developer. A final retention schedule and self-service deletion flow have not yet been specified for launch.
