Milestone FAQ & Troubleshooting
How do I restore Milestone Pro?
Open the Settings tab in Milestone and tap Restore Purchases in the Milestone Pro section. You can also restore from the paywall. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. An internet connection may be required to contact the App Store.
How do Live Activities and Dynamic Island work?
When you start a focus timer, Milestone displays its current phase and countdown through a Live Activity when enabled. Dynamic Island presentation requires a supported iPhone. Manage Live Activities in Milestone's iOS settings. iOS controls availability and presentation; a Live Activity does not keep the app continuously running in the background.
Why am I not receiving timer notifications?
Check Settings → Notifications → Milestone on your iPhone and enable notifications and sounds. Also check the timer notification preference in the app's Settings tab. Focus modes, notification summaries and other iOS settings can affect delivery. Timer alerts are scheduled locally on your device. Pausing or resetting in the app cancels pending timer alerts; resuming schedules new alerts when timer alerts and notification permission are enabled. If you previously denied notification permission, enable it in iOS Settings and return to Milestone; you do not need to change a task reminder to re-enable timer alerts.
How long do Pomodoro alerts work without reopening the app?
Milestone pre-schedules up to 32 upcoming focus and break completion alerts across multiple cycles, including long breaks. A fresh start with the default 25-minute focus, 5-minute short break and 20-minute long break durations queues up to nine hours of alerts. Coverage depends on your timer settings and available iOS notification slots. Reopening the app, resuming the timer or changing future phase durations refreshes the queue. Alerts are not scheduled indefinitely: reopen Milestone before the queued alerts run out if you want them to continue. iOS permission, Focus and notification settings still control delivery.
Will daily reminders keep working if I do not open the app?
Daily mission reminders and task reminders use repeating local schedules rather than a seven-day batch. They remain scheduled until you disable the reminder, remove its time, or archive/delete the relevant mission or task. Tasks at the same reminder time are grouped. If too many distinct times exceed the available notification slots, additional tasks are included in a daily summary instead of receiving separate alerts. Notification permission, Focus settings and iOS delivery rules still apply.
Why did a reminder arrive after I completed the task?
The current app uses recurring daily reminders. Completing a task today does not suppress only today's occurrence of that repeating reminder. If you have already completed it, no further action is needed. Change or remove the task's reminder time to change its schedule. The Daily Mission Reminder in Settings is a separate prompt to review your mission, not a count of unfinished tasks.
Why am I not receiving daily reminders?
Enable notifications in Settings → Notifications → Milestone on your iPhone. For mission reminders, enable Daily Mission Reminder in Milestone's Settings and check the reminder time. For task reminders, set a time using the reminder control on the daily task. After changing permission in iOS Settings, reopen Milestone. Check Focus, Scheduled Summary, notification previews and sound settings. Personal-track reminders also require active Pro access. iOS controls delivery; alerts are not guaranteed to bypass Focus or silent settings.
What happens when my phone locks or the app is backgrounded?
Milestone calculates the countdown from a saved end date. When the app resumes, it reconciles elapsed focus and break phases against that timeline. Pre-scheduled timer alerts can be delivered while the app is not running, subject to the finite alert queue and iOS settings. A Live Activity does not keep the app continuously running or guarantee live phase updates while suspended; if it says Open to Sync, reopen Milestone. iOS controls background execution, widget refresh and notification delivery; millisecond precision is not guaranteed. Changing the device clock can affect date-based timers.
Can I manage multiple missions?
The free plan supports one active Work mission. Milestone Pro supports separate Work and Personal tracks, with one active mission per track. The Archive contains previous missions; the separate Pro Vault feature stores future mission ideas and supports moving them into an active track.
How do I add Home Screen or Lock Screen widgets?
Touch and hold your Home Screen, use the edit/add-widget control and search for Milestone. Choose a supported size and add it. For Lock Screen widgets, touch and hold the Lock Screen, choose Customize and select the widget area. Available sizes and controls depend on your iOS version and device. The Work countdown is available on the free plan; the Personal countdown requires Milestone Pro. The large combined countdown can show Work alongside the Personal track when available. These widgets show mission progress; the Pomodoro timer uses a Live Activity rather than a Home Screen widget.
Why does my Personal widget say Unavailable?
The Personal countdown requires active Milestone Pro access. Open Milestone and check your access in Settings. If you already purchased Pro, use Restore Purchases with the same Apple Account, then open the Personal track. If a widget has no mission to display, create or activate a mission in the appropriate track. Widgets may take time to refresh after access or mission changes.
Why is a widget outdated or showing View mission?
Open Milestone to refresh its shared widget data, and check that the correct track has an active mission. iOS determines when widgets refresh, so updates may not appear immediately. If needed, remove and re-add the widget; do not delete the app as a first troubleshooting step. Very long Home Screen mission names can be replaced by View mission to avoid clipped text. Tap the widget to open the app and read the full name.
What happens when my Pro subscription expires?
The app returns to free Work-track access. Your Personal mission data is retained locally, but Personal access and reminders are disabled without active Pro access. An eligible purchase or restoration can re-enable paid access. Deleting the app can remove local data, so do not reinstall simply to fix an access problem. A lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase, not a renewing subscription.
Can you recover my missions if I delete the app or change phones?
Milestone does not provide app-managed iCloud sync or a developer-held copy of your missions. Depending on your settings, iOS may include app data in an iCloud or computer backup, but recovery is not guaranteed. Check your backup before deleting the app or moving devices. Offload App can retain data; Delete App removes the installation and its local data. Restoring purchases restores eligible Pro access, not mission history. Previously shared reports are not a full database backup.
Can I use Milestone offline?
Core mission, task, timer and locally generated soundscape features work on-device without an online account. Loading purchase prices, buying or restoring Pro and opening website links can require internet access. The app does not provide cross-device mission synchronization.
What should I check if focus audio stops?
Check the selected soundscape, playback control, device volume and audio output. Calls, other audio apps, headphone changes and iOS interruptions can pause playback. Reopen Milestone and resume the soundscape if necessary. Pro soundscapes require active Pro access. Focus audio is optional and is not a medical treatment or a guarantee of improved concentration.
How do I manage subscriptions or request a refund?
Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple processes payments and refund requests; visit Report a Problem for purchase assistance.
